A count of the sisterlocks

So I decided to count my sisterlocks, even though my arms became tired I still manage to count 500 sisterlock. I will have my first shampoo next weekend at 3 weeks.

Sisterlocked

I know I'm 2 weeks late with this blog but my sisterlocks were installed on December 10 thru December 11, 2010. I just love them, Thank to Ms. Laretta of More Hair Salon, they are beautiful. I can't wait for them to settle.

Sisterlocks

It's been a trying year however, my sisterlocks will be installed on Dec 10-11, 2010. I'm so excited, the tester locks are doing well. Not putting any products in my hair is wiered, but I'm managing. I will post pics after the installation. I'm 16 months free. My hair length is 7 inches.

Finger coils/ comb coils

I just realized that today is my 14 month of being natural. I was debating whether I should do a big chop again. I really want some color. I have so much on my mind right now that I can't think straight. Life has to get better . Ooh yeah I'm suppose to be talking about my finger / comb coils. I did them myself everyone i'n school says they look nice. It took me a few hours, but I've had them i'n for almost a week.

13 months

I'm still excited about being natural. I got a little bored so I took out the starter locs and just been rocking different styles. I tried to blow-dry and straightened my hair which was a complete failure and then heat damange but only a small area. I won't do that again.

Year one complete

Well it has been a joy to be natural, I like trying different style. One thing a love about being natural is walking in the rain. I'm truly looking forward too year two. My hair has grown so much. It's about 6 inches long. My only issue is my itchy scalp, but I've always had an itchy scalp. I don't use alot of products in my hair.

take down locs

I took my baby locs down, because I wasn't happy and you know what they say if Momma ain't happy then nobody is happy. My locs had several different sizes, some thick, some small and some medium size. So I combed them out. I still love my natural hair. I may do locs when I get s steady job, but for now I'm okay. Naptural Roots is having a hair growth challenge, I'm looking forward to this challenge. I already have 5 inches. This challenge will begin on July3, 2010 until Dec. 2011.

school

I'm changing careers which means I need some education, So now I'm currently attending Medix-west for medical assistant. It's all interesting so far, I will graduate in june of next year but I will be finish the program in March. My furture plans are to become a certified phlembotomost.

my birthday weekend

this weekend is our birthday,I'm missing my twin brother. (RIP) Renard. Just think if you were here it would have been our 46 birthday. I can only image what out lives would have been like. Well I've going to have to party without you. Love you!!!

Honey and beeswax

I saw this lady yesterday her locs were pretty. So I asked her who does her hair she stated she did. So I asked what products do you use she said honey and beeswax. She had been loc'd for the years. She gave me some words of wisdom. So I tried the honey and beeswax mix , so far I like they my baby locs looks, they are neat, the test will be how they will look in a few days.

11months natural

Just thinking about the past 11 months and it still amazes me how my hair has grown. My hair is soft and about 5 inches long. I continue to use my juices and berries leave in conditioner. Now my locs are another story. I'm not sure where I'm properly maintaining them. Some say they are suppose to look frizzy after a few days of having them retwisted. I guess its all in the locking process.

Starter locs

I'm unsure about my starter locs it's been almost a month. Everyone one says patience....atleast my hair is growing. It's now 5 inches. I want some color.

Week 1 of starter locs and they have been retwisted already. My hair is growing well, I just have to get use to the same style for right now. Hopefully by this time next year I can do more styles. Patience is everything. I'm going to school so there will be no time for hair for the next 9 months.

my locs journey

Well 've decided to get locs. I had the honor of helping Malaika Cooper the owner of Dreadz N Headz salon. She needed 3 hair models because she teaches classes. I volunteered and I just love the way my hair looks. I have two strand twist, but with diamond pattern. I will return to the salon in 3 weeks for a retwisting. It was funny how my locs journey started on the 10th month of my natural hair journey.

Mother's Day

I had a great mother's day it started with brunch with the hubby and then I went to my oldest daughter's house and say the grandkids. Then all the rest of my children came. I reicved cards and flowers and balloons. Then we all went to dinner except for my one and only son, because he didn't have any money so he didn't go. but I still love him. I had seen him in over a month he such a work-aholic. My oldest grandson was excited to give my card which is now displayed on my entertainment center. It's one of those musical cards. It says who has the best grandma and then it says I do I do... Have to love the kids.

my first attempt at flexirods

I tried to flexi rod my hair the other day, I slept on those rods and woke up with a headache. So I took them out real early. I could really tell if they work because my hair was super curly. I think I just stick to my two strand twist out. I thinking about a proctective style for the summer but I'm not sure if I really want a proctective style. I will have to do more research.

Mothers day 2010

I had a wonderful mothers day, hanging out with the family. I had brunch with my hubby. Then later we all went to dinner at Red Lobster. The begining of the week it was warm but by the weekend it was cold. But I still rocked my fro and my sun dress. I received flowers and cards. My favorite card was the musical card that my lovely grandchildren gave me. Love my grandmas babies.

May is starting out great

Now the month of may has finally arrive I love the warmer weather. Ive been hanging and exercising. I entered into a contest that was given by teeny weeny afro and I was chosen as the winner. I will recieve a 40.00 gift. I am excited.

DMV Naturals Meetup

I had fun at National Harbor for the meetup. It was nice seeing all the different styles of hair. I brought some jewelry and got a new product from Zuresh. Looking forward to trying the body cleanser.the other prodcut that i got was Shea Body Blend. It smells really good the scent is called essence.

Oyinhandmade products

So a few months ago I got a sample pack of oyinhandmade products which consist of greg juice, shine and define and also whipped pudding and the famous honey hemp conditioner. Immediately I was hooked. these products not only smell great they leave you have shining and soft. If you aren't sure go get a sample pack and try it for yourself, Iam sure you will continue to buy these products. I also used the head to toe wash. it leaves your skin nice and smooth.

9 months natural

Well its been nine months and i'm loving my hair. I still use oyinhandmade products. I just tried carol's daughter hairmilk. I don't like this product. Then I tried Jane Carter's Nourish and Shine. I like this it leaves your hair shinny. I wet my hair and twisted it. I've started going back to the gym....Iam a little sore but I'm looking for results.

spring time and pollen

I know this has nothing to do with hair, but my allergies are kicking my butt. i love the spring time but i doesn't love me.. My eyes are itchy, watery, swelling and I still have this cough. I will be visiting m dr tomorrow. I'm hoping for the best. Iam excited me and my hubby have decided to fast on sunday's and eat a vegetarian meals on monday... we are going to work our way to becoming full vegetarians.

my first prepoo

So I decided to try my hand at pre-pooing. I used suave conditioner, coconut oil, evoo and honey. I mixed these products and put them in my hair. I let in stay in my hair for about an hour. I rinsed and shampooed my hair and then I put the good conditioner in (honey hemp. I left this in my hair pull it back in a puff,my hair is soft. I will try this again.

My cold

I've been under the weather this week, I have a cold that start as a headache and now its in my chest. So I've tried tylenol sinusus, mucinix, but nothing seems to work. I hope next week will be better.

Alica Keys

I saw Alicia Keys, Robin Thicke and Melonie Pheona, It was a nice show...Robin Thicke is a sexy white dude....Alicia Keys was great. It was the first time me and my hubby had been out in awhile....We went to dinner, I have a cobb crab salad.

The Natural hair care expo

I really enjoyed the hair care expo on Saturday. I went with my one of my daughters, we went to the sisterlocks seminair. Now she wants sisterlocks. It was a ver informative seminar. I also meet the owner of Sarenzo Beads, Miss Sarah Elliott. I purchased a few hairties. It was alot of people there trying to get you to purchase their products. I think that next year it should be held in a larger spot and also serve food there. This was my first natural hair show.

My first frohawk

I let my daughter cornrow my hair, so she did a frowhawk. I think it's really cute. I'm looking forward to going to the hair expo tomorrow.

A Bottling Party

I just return from OyinHandmade bottling party. It was my first time time there. I meet Tracy, Erin, Lisa, and the whole oyinhandmade crew. I had a blast and I hope to attend another party. Fun was had by all.

still on my journey

I'm excited today is my 8 month being natural. I love every minute of it. I had to learn what works for my hair. I love how soft it is. Im still debating with I want locks or not. it's so nice to see so many other's that are natural. Naturalchica and blackoynx77 have been my biggest inspirations. I'm looking forward to my one year anniversary.

hair care expo

I won tickets today to the natural haircare expo next weekend. I won this ticket from Nappturalite radio. This will be my first visit to the hair show, I am so excited. The weather is breaking and I can get back to my routine,walking, running but with out wearing about my hair because its all natural.

dennan brush

Today I brought a dennan brush, I've heard alot about this brush, but I was using a different type of brush. I spritz my hair with juices& berries detangle and braided my hair. I will do this again. I'm almost at eight moths...yay me

The beginning

I did not realize at first that I was in a transition stage, because I was just having my hair braided because I could not do it myself due to a work injury. I now know that I was transitioning for about a year before I actually did my be chop. I researched alot about natural hair. I was so excited that I just went to the salon an go my big chop done. Iam so proud of my hair. I am have found so many new friends here and I have learned alot. I thought I was too old to do this, but I wish I would have went natural earlier in life.

my hair journey month 8

Ok I will be 8 months natural on march 16, 2010 and I so excited about my hair. Last month I found oyinhandmade products. I love these products. I'm blessed that I don't have to wait two weeks for my products to come in the mail. I can get in my car an drive to the store (exittheapple). Such a cute little place... I did my b/c in july of 2009 and I can't wait to see what my hair will look like after a year. I would like the to thank my good friend Kejuaunna for convincing me to go natural. I watch alot of youtube videos such as Naturalchica.
